Questions

What people ask before they buy a name.

If yours is not here, ask it. The answer comes from Willa, in writing.

Why did I get an email about a domain?

Because the name describes what your company does, where it does it, or what it sells, and your current address says the same thing at greater length. We write to a small number of companies per name, once, and stop when asked.

How is the price set?

Each name has a single asking figure, set from the length of the name, how often people search for the words in it and what comparable names have changed hands for. You get that number when you ask. We do not run bidding between companies.

Can I pay in instalments?

For some names, yes. The name stays with escrow or with us until the last payment, then transfers. Ask when you enquire and we will say whether it applies to that domain.

Is it safe to pay for a domain?

Payment goes to a licensed escrow service, which releases it only once the name shows in your registrar account and you say so. If the transfer fails, the money comes back to you. The full sequence.

Will it improve our search ranking?

We make no promise about rankings. What a literal name does reliably is get remembered, typed correctly and trusted in an inbox. Search results depend on far more than the address.

Could the name conflict with a trademark?

We check for registered marks on the words before a name is offered and share what we found with you before you pay. For anything you plan to register as your own mark, your counsel should have the final word.

What happens to our email and current site?

Nothing, until your team chooses. Most buyers point the new name at their existing site and add it as a second email domain, then switch over when they are ready. The old address keeps working for as long as you renew it.

Do you buy names on our behalf?

No. Basis Advisors places names it holds. If you are after a name somebody else owns, we can tell you who to talk to, but we do not act as a buyer's agent.

How do I stop hearing from you?

Reply "stop" to any email from us, or say so through the enquiry form. The whole company is taken off our list, not just the address that asked.
